Trakcja PRKiI has handed over the technical/maintenance facilities back to their user – SKM Warszawa – following their extensive refurbishment.

The contract involved the renovation of a 400 – metre overhaul/repair depot, construction of an all-season washing station, technical facilities and a social/office building.

The scope of the project also required the contractor to perform works related to railway tracks, overhead contact system, structural, power supply, sanitary and road facilities. The contract involved the installation of almost 5 km of traction wires, renovation of 6,5 km of outdoor railway tracks and 800 m of tracks inside the maintenance hall, replacement and renovation of 17 turnouts, as well as the refurbishment of elements of the existing supporting structures for the overhead contact system.

Additionally, new access roads to the technical facilities, car park, maneuvering area and sidewalks were built. The refurbished technical facilities of SKM will allow the servicing of as many as 50 trains of this Warsaw-based public transport company. The contract net value stood at over 45 million PLN.

This is not the first project of this type carried out by Trakcja PRKiI. In 2014 the company completed the construction of the most modern technical facilities in Poland, built for the Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (Łódź Commuter Railway).
