The first energy storage facility in Poland is operational

On September 28, the official launch of the first Polish store energy facility, built for Energa Operator S.A. took place. The innovative battery-bank energy storage facility was installed on the wind farm in Pomerania, near Puck. This is the first project of this type in Poland and one of the first in Europe.

The energy storage facility will form the so-called local balancing area, which is one of the most important innovative issues in ensuring energy security.  It serves the accumulation of redundant power produced by wind farms and giving it back in periods of more demand for electricity.

The task was carried out by a consortium of companies led by Qumak S.A. The Trakcja PRKiI's job was, among other things, to design and manufacture battery racks and switch-disconnector cabinets, and to install particular devices.

The product was awarded a trophy of the Polish Chamber of Power Industry and Environment Protection at the Energetab 2016 fair.
