Renewal of two lines in Silesia
Trakcja PRKiI is going to perform track works in the Silesia Province for over PLN 15 million. The works will be performed on two railway lines. The first project involves the renewal of approximately 4 km of the track of railway line No. 168 at the Gliwice–Gliwice Łabędy section and replacement of turnouts at the Szobiszowice branch station and at the Gliwice Łabędy station. This will be accompanied by works on overhead line equipment, train traffic control systems and replacement of support structures. The works will enable the elimination of local 20 – 40 km/h speed limits and increase of train speed to 80 km/h.
The second project involves the renewal of track No. 2 of line No. 151 at the Kędzierzyn Koźle–Kuźnia Raciborska route. The works will be performed at a section of approximately 17 km, and they will include the renewal of track infrastructure, 8 turnouts and 1 crossing and restoration of secondary tracks. Upon completion of the works, train speed will be increased at the individual sections to 60 and 100 km/h.
The works are scheduled to be completed in the end of September 2016.
