Trakcja PRKiI Awarded in the Construction of the Year 2014 Competition
The construction of technical facilities of the Łódź Metropolitan Railway (ŁKA) was awarded in the 25th edition of the "Construction of the Year" Competition. The state-of-the-art rolling-stock maintenance facility was built as fast as within 12 months.
The 3rd Category Award was granted by the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians as part of the 25th edition of the competition organized under patronage of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development and the General Construction Supervision Office.
The building built by Trakcja PRKiI S.A. as general contractor has been located in the vicinity of the Łódź Widzew station at the redeveloped railway-related area. The facilities consist of four parts: maintenance and overhaul part with three tracks, washing facility with the forth track, and office and welfare facility, as well as warehouse. The facilities are equipped with modern equipment for routine maintenance and current repairs of ŁKA trains. The following are located on individual tracks: underfloor wheel lathe, stand for laser measurement of wheelsets, scales for measurement of wheel load, trapdoor, and stand for sandbox filling. The environment-friendly washing facility performs also such processes as de-icing, liquid waste removal and water filling.
The cost of construction of the facility amounted to over net PLN 55.2 million.
