Finishing Touches to the Widzew Tunnel

Finishing work on the Łódź Widzew railway station pedestrian tunnel has started. The roofing over three platforms has already been made. The last platform is to be completed soon.

Trakcja PRKiI S.A. started the finishing work on the passenger underground passage – the wall and lift shaft plastering is under way and systems are being installed. Lifts and stair stone cladding are to be installed in April. The entrance to the tunnel from the station side will be through a ramp and stairs, and the platform will be accessed by stairs and a lift. In this way, the facility will be accessible for reduced mobility people. The roofs and lighting of two platforms that are already operating is completed. The assembly of the last of 2600 structural elements of the platforms is completed, and the last platform currently undergoes paving, installation of lighting and installation of passenger information. The old Platform 1 adjacent to the station building will be renovated and separated from the track, so the passenger service will be entirely transferred to the new roofed part of the station. Since administrative decisions are being efficiently issued, all the platforms are to be made available to passengers as soon as in September.
