On Friday, November 18, in the presence of Mr. Andrzej Bittel, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, representatives of Trakcja S.A. concluded a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. concerning the execution of an investment task within the framework of the project "Works on the E20 railroad line in Siedlce-Terespol section, stage III-LCS Terespol," consisting of the design and execution of the extension of the track system at Biała Podlaska station and Małaszewicze station.

The investment, prepared by PKP PLK S.A., will contribute to significant improvements in rail freight transport, making it more competitive, and, by making the tracks passable, will also have a positive impact on passenger transport. Passenger safety will also be improved, among others as a result of the construction of a crossing under the tracks at Biała Podlaska Wschodnia station.

Under the contract, Trakcja undertook to develop the design documentation necessary for the proper execution of all construction works and to obtain all the required opinions, agreements, approvals, conditions, decisions and permits. A total of ten tracks at Biała Podlaska Station and three tracks at Małaszewicze Station will be designed and constructed. The stations in question will be adapted to handle heavier and longer freight trains, with lengths of up to 750 meters. The contract provides for a total of a dozen kilometers of track.

“This is a very important investment” - stressed Andrzej Bittel, Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure, "more tracks means more efficient and flexible operation of freight trains, keeping in mind that it is the passenger transport that is the priority.”

During the signing of the contract, Trakcja S.A. was represented by Mr. Artur Szumisz - President of the Management Board, General Director and Mr. Jakub Lechowicz - Member of the Management Board, Director of the Internal Audit; on behalf of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. the contract was signed by Mr. Krzysztof Pietras, Director of the Central Region of the PKP PLK Investment Realization Center.
