Trakcja PRKiI Becomes the Sole Shareholder in BTW
The Competition and Consumer Protection Office permitted Trakcja PRKiI to take over shares in the BTW company, previously owned by the German company Leonard Weiss. Thus, Trakcja PRKiI is to become the sole owner of the company, in which Trakcja previously owned half of the shares.
Bahn Technik Wrocław (BTW) was incorporated in 1996 as a joint venture of Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Kolejowych i Inżynieryjnych Wrocław (which was merged with Trakcja PRKiI in 2013) and the German company Leonard Weiss GmbH of Cralsheim. The company performs welding works on railway and tram tracks and track works using specialized machinery. BTW employs nearly 90 people and earns annual sales of about PLN 40 million.
The transaction value will amount to PLN 21.5 million.
"The acquisition will increase the contracting capacity of Grupa Trakcja in track works performed with high-performance equipment - says Trakcja PRKiI's President Jarosław Tomaszewski. The acquisition of shares from the German shareholder will allow us to exercise full control over the company and develop greater synergy effect in managing the track work machinery within the Group. In this way we express our readiness to implement the National Railway Programme by having actual contracting capacity available in Poland – certified equipment and Polish operators."
Currently, Trakcja PRKiI is implementing in Poland nearly 60 contracts with a total value of nearly PLN 3.5 billion, which mostly include railway contracts. The Company is the parent company within Grupa Trakcja, which is composed of several entities including: Lithuanian group Kauno Tiltai (infrastructural construction) and the following companies: Torprojekt (designs), PEUiM Białystok (road works), PDM (rental of construction equipment), Dalba (environmental engineering), PRK 7 Nieruchomości (real estate development).
The total staff number in Grupa Trakcja reaches 2 thousand employees.
