Upgrade of the Chybie-Nędza/Turze line is almost completed

Works are nearly completed on the project of comprehensive reconstruction of the Chybie - Żory - Rybnik - Nędza/Turze line in the Silesian Province. The project included an upgrade of nearly 60 km of tracks and overhead contact line and 29 crossings, and replacement of 120 turnouts. Ninety-one engineering structures, such as bridges, overpasses, and culvert, were repaired. Thorough refurbishment was performed on, among others, the historical Zamysłowski bridge on the Nacyna river in Rybnik, which was built in 1912.  The task included reconstruction of 18 platforms with modern lighting and a new public address system. The entire infrastructure was adapted so as to be accessible to handicapped persons. Also, the structures were covered with anti-slip surface equipped with touch signage.

The solutions used in the upgrade of the line will significantly reduce the emission of noise and vibrations: sound barriers were installed along the line and rail vibration-insulation inserts and the contact-less track technology were used in the upgraded line. Thanks to the project, travel From Chybie, through Żory and Rybnik to Nędza, will take half an hour less. Trains will move on the line with the speed of up to 120 km/h, compared to the speed of 20-50 km before the upgrade.

Pursuant to the provisions of the contract signed with the contracting authority, Trakcja PRKiI, acting as the consortium leader, will complete the works in July 2019. The entire project, worth over 459 million zlotys gross, is performed by the consortium consisting of Trakcja PRKiI (leader), ZUE S.A., Strabag Sp. z o.o., Comsa S.A., and Strabag Rail a.s.

Trakcja PRKiI is one of the largest infrastructural construction company and has been continuously present in the market for 70 years.
