Warszawa Główna brought back to the passengers

After over 20 years, Warszawa Główna station will be filled with passengers again. Trakcja PRKiI has signed an 80.7 million PLN net contract concerning complex modernization of the object, upon completion of which the station will be introduced to passenger trains traffic. Within the scope of the investment, the existing track arrangement (four main tracks along the platforms and the fifth communication track to change the front of the train in case of trains with locomotives) on the station will be modernized. The project envisages modernization of traction network and construction of two double-edge platforms with spot umbrella roofs. The objects will be equipped with modern lighting and small architecture elements and adapted for disabled and reduced mobility persons. The investment includes also works within the scope of telecommunications, drainage and railway traffic control.

Moreover, in order to improve commuters safety, pedestrian bridge will be provided over the station tracks connecting Aleje Jerozolimskie with ul. Kolejowa. The square in front of the station entrance, from ul. Towarowa, will be subject to thorough modernization: 15 Kiss&Ride parking places, 10 taxi stations and bicycle parking lots will be provided together with a zone with benches, VMSs with passenger information and ticket machines.

Upon completion of the investment, Warszawa Główna will take over a significant part of agglomeration traffic and will become an important transfer centre near the future modern office and commercial complex in Wola.

Project will be implemented within 18 months since the date of the contract.
