Grupa Trakcja wins a contract in Sweden
Grupa Trakcja won its first contract in Sweden. For over 27 million SEK (13 million zlotys), Grupa Trakcja will build over 1.5 km of a road, a bridge, noise barriers, and a number of additional elements of road infrastructure. The contract is a bridgehead for Grupa Trakcja's expansion in Scandinavia in the coming years.
The tender was announced by the Swedish Transport Administration (a counterpart of merged Polish railways company, PKP PLK S.A., and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, GDDKiA). The contracting authority's budget for the project was 300 million Swedish kronas (1 SEK = 0.45 PLN). The bid, with price equal to 27.7 million SEK or 92% of the budget, was submitted by Kauno Tiltai Sverige (a subsidiary of the Lithuanian part of Grupa Trakcja) in a consortium with the Swedish Sandahls grus & asfalt AB. The second lowest bid price was just 200 thousand zlotys higher. Grupa Trakcja holds a majority share in the consortium, which is equal to 72%.
“The fact that Grupa Trakcja established a company in Sweden proves its serious interest in the Swedish market. Scandinavia has great potential as a market where we can win many contracts with attractive profit margins. Our team, which is familiar with the local market, calculated a reasonable price. The first contract will facilitate our participation in other, larger tenders. We also consider submitting bids in railway tenders," said Roman Przybył, the CEO of Grupa Trakcja.
The scope of the contract covers construction of a bridge with access roads and two traffic circles, reconstruction of a 1.5 km long section of road no. 156 between Skene and Skoghem in the vicinity of Göteborg, and a number of supplementary works, including construction of noise barriers. The contracting authority is planning to expand the scope of the contract to include paving of three sections of private roads with asphalt and renovation of a gravel road. All the works should be completed by 30 May 2016.
