Łódź Widzew Station Changing before Our Eyes
Trakcja PRKiI is the contractor implementing two large projects in Łódź Widzew, namely the modernisation of its railway station and the construction of technical facilities for the Łódź Agglomeration Railway. The works are progressing at a rapid pace and their effects are visible every day.
Trakcja PRKiI S.A. simultaneously carries out two large projects in Łódź, namely the modernisation of the Łódź Widzew station and the construction of technical facilities for the Łódź Agglomeration Railway. The works are carried out in two shifts – even 18 hours per day. In several days, 7 tonnes of copper overhead contact line were hung using two maintenance trains. 8,000 tonnes of aggregate were delivered to the Łódź Widzew station only during last week. In practice, a train of aggregate weighing 1,600 tonnes gets unloaded every second night. Apart from nearly 200 workmen, both projects are serviced by several thousand pieces of heavy equipment and two maintenance trains.
The fast pace of works is possible due to the optimal coordination of works under the two projects by one contractor. The construction of an underground passage is ahead of schedule by two months. The last floor concrete topping will be put by the end of September. That will be followed by the construction of the roof.
The passengers at the Łódź Widzew station have been using a new roofed platform for more than two months.
