We build with respect for history

Trakcja PRKiI has prepared a Christmas gift to the delight of railway enthusiasts visiting the Museum Station, as well as those who are passionate about historical railway objects. Our company was immensely happy to prepare it!

During the upgrade of the Warszawa Główna station, an idea came up to restore the historic water crane located on the outskirts of the Museum Station. This task was not included in the scope of the contract for the reconstruction of the station. The water crane exhibited at the museum was made at the Mechanical Works Neusaltz (Nowa Sól) in 1920. This equipment was used to supply steam locomotives with water and was placed in the intertrack space in steam locomotive depots and at larger railway stations.

Before the renovation, the exhibit was dismantled, inspected for damage and cracks, cleaned, sanded, and painted with a special paint. The next important step was to prepare a new place for the location of the crane, so that it could show its former purpose in the most realistic way possible. After appropriate protection, the crane elements were transported and mounted on a prepared concrete base at the Station Museum in the immediate vicinity of a steam engine, in a place visible to future passengers. Today, the restored crane proudly reminds us of a bygone era of steam from the beginnings of the railways. All the works were carried out under the watchful eye of a conservator-restorer and did not affect the works performed as a part of the contract.
