Terespol station commissioned

In mid-September, Trakcja PRKiI put into service a modernized track system on the odd side of Terespol railway station. This facility located near the Polish-Belarusian border, is both a terminal station for domestic trains and a transit station for international trains. Over 7 km of tracks and 27 switches were replaced as part of the project. The overhead contact line, power engineering devices, rail traffic control devices, ITC systems and drainage were rebuilt also. A new control room building of the Local Control Centre was built, equipped with computer devices for safe train traffic management.

Passengers already use two new platforms and a refurbished underground passage. Work is currently under way on the even side of the station, without affecting the rail traffic.

Once the whole project is completed, the speed of passenger trains will increase to 160 km/h and freight traffic to 120 km/h. The efficiency of the use of the railway line will also grow, which will significantly improve the transport offer while reducing the costs of infrastructure operation.

The reconstruction of Terespol station is part of the Trakcja PRKiI's contract of over PLN 417 million covering the upgrade of three railway stations in the Lubelskie Voivodeship along the E20 railway line. Currently, the company is also performing advanced work on the facilities in Biała Podlaska and Małaszewicze.
