Two railway contracts in the Szczecin area

Trakcja PRKiI signed contracts for the implementation of two tasks within the framework of the construction of the Szczecin Metropolitan Railway with a total net value of over PLN 503 million.

“I am pleased that Trakcja PRKiI has acquired further investment projects that will facilitate public transport around the agglomerationsays Marek Kacprzak, Vice-President of the Management Board of Trakcja PRKiI. We have experience in this type of tasks, in which we use our strongest assets in the form of our internal design company and hardware company. Trakcja PRKiI is constantly developing its contracting potential and increasing employment rates."

The first contract provides for the modernisation of a 24-km section of the railway line no. 406 between Szczecin Główny and Police, which has been excluded from passenger traffic for years. As part of the works, the track surface, subgrade and 49 turnouts will be replaced. In addition, 7 railway stations, 8 passenger stops and 36 civil structures will be renovated. The investment also calls for the construction of 5 new stops and the related passenger service facilities. The works will include installation of railway traffic control devices and environmental protection elements. This task, worth over 390 million net, will be completed within 25 months.

The second contract provides for the modernisation of selected elements of passenger infrastructure on railway lines 273, 351 and 401. The works shall include regulation of the tracks, extension, construction of new platforms and construction of a new passenger stop (Szczecin Dunikowo) together with an underground passage under the tracks as well as the construction of an underground passage at the Szczecin Dąbie station. The almost 113 million net worth of works will be completed within 22 months.

The Szczecin Metropolitan Railway is a project which aims to connect the biggest cities of the metropolitan area – Stargard, Goleniów, Gryfino and Police – with Szczecin. The construction of a modern and integrated rail network will provide passengers with an unprecedented level of comfort in their travels.

"Over the past week, we signed three agreements with a total value of over PLN 1 billion, the implementation of which, to the scope of nearly PLN 800 million, shall be the responsibility of Trakcja PRKiI and its subsidiaries. In two cases, our offers exceeded the employer’s budgets, and in the third case, they were comparable. We plan to maintain such a conservative bidding policy due to the fact, in particular, that the employers now pay more attention to the non-price criteria"– adds Vice President Marek Kacprzak.
